Kernville Union School District
Helpful Tips for Sharing a Concern or Complaint
All team members of the Kernville Union School District strive to best serve our students. However, there may be times where you have a concern or a complaint. If you have a concern or complaint, it is important you voice your concern or complaint. We cannot improve upon meeting the needs of your child if we do not know about it.
Not sure where to start or whom to contact? Here are some helpful tips:
1. Gather all relevant information about your concern or complaint.
The more information you can gather and provide the better we can serve you.
Answering these questions may help:
Who was involved?
What happened?
When did it happen?
Where did it happen?
2. Contact the appropriate school or district team member.
Contact your child’s teacher when:
It concerns academics or grades
It concerns anything that happened in the classroom
Contact the school principal when:
It concerns the school
It concerns a staff member at the school
It concerns anything that happened at school outside of the classroom
Contact the superintendent when:
It concerns the district
It concerns an employee of the district
It concerns a district policy or procedure
3. Share all the information you gathered with the school or district team member you contacted.
Be prepared to answer questions.
Please be patient. Most concerns take time to investigate and gather information.
Let the person know how to best reach you after they have completed the investigation.
4. Follow up with the school employee you contacted if necessary.
You should expect the school employee to get back to you within a reasonable amount of time. A reasonable amount of time varies; it could be the same day or within 24, 48, or 72 hours.
