The Kernville Elementary school staff includes seven full-time self-contained credentialed teachers, a half-time physical education teacher, a half-time Learning Center specialist, a half-time Title I teacher, and a full-time principal. All teachers are teaching in their field of training and within their credential authorizations. Classified staff members include one full-time secretary, two food service personnel, two custodians, and six instructional aides. Kernville Elementary operates on a traditional school year calendar and is in session one hundred and eighty days. Total instructional minutes per day by grade level are the following: Kindergarten: 305 Grades 1-3: 295 Grades 4-5: 345 Supplemental programs include Title I, special education, summer school (grades two through eight), counseling services, parent volunteer programs, ropes course instruction, and a three-hour after school program offered to all students grades K through 5. In addition, the Kernville Union School District employs a part-time psychologist to conduct behavioral, neurological, instructional, and health assessments to determine the student's educational and counseling needs. The district operates a Family Resource Center. This agency is instrumental in coordinating services from local agencies to meet the various needs of our students and families. |
